Hi @AGourav,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP LaserJet 1020 printer to a MacBook, especially if you're using macOS Sonoma or a newer Mac with Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3), here’s what I recommend, since this is a legacy printer with no native macOS support.

1. Connect via USB

  • Use a USB-A to USB-C adapter if your MacBook only has USB-C ports.
  • Plug the printer into your MacBook.

2. Add the Printer Manually

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  2. Click the “+” button to add a new printer
  3. Select HP LaserJet 1020 from the list (if it appears)
  4. In the “Use” dropdown, choose:
    • HP LaserJet 1022 (if available)
    • Or Generic PCL Printer as a fallback

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
