Hi @kleww,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with accessing the advanced settings in HP Smart and you want to configure your HP Officejet Pro 9000 series printer to go to sleep when not in use, you can try the following steps.
Update HP Smart: Ensure that you have the latest version of HP Smart installed. Check for updates in your app store and install any available updates for HP Smart.
Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
Reinstall HP Smart: If the issue persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart application. This can help to resolve any software glitches.
Accessing Advanced Settings: If you still can't access advanced settings through HP Smart, you may need to access these settings through the printer's web interface. Follow these steps:
- a. Open a web browser on a computer or device connected to the same network as your printer.
- b. Enter your printer's IP address into the address bar. You can find the IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer.
- c. Once you've entered the IP address, press Enter. This should take you to the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- d. Navigate to the Settings or Configuration section to find options related to power management or sleep settings. Look for a section where you can configure the sleep mode or power-saving options.
- e. Adjust the settings to your preference and save the changes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
With your help, I was able to get to Advanced Settings.
After getting to the advanced setting, I go to Energy Save Mode. Once there, I go to power management and set the
1. Energy Save Mode - sleep timer to "After 5 minutes."
2. Auto Off - set to 1 hour
Neither of the settings happened. The printer did not go to sleep after 5 minutes or cut off after an hour. Does that mean I have to restart my computer?
Thank you for your help.
