Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with not able to select the correct tray in MS Word. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Do you see the green exclamation mark on the printer’s screen or the MacBook while printing?
- Did this happen after a software or Mac update?
For now, please try these steps:
If the issue is on the printer’s touchscreen then follow these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4500-all-in-one-printer-series-g510/3919445/model/... and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer”
- Then update the printer firmware also by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168
- There is an associated YouTube video on how to do it.
Now check for issue resolution.
If the exclamation mark is on the MacBook Pro then try these steps:
- Please remove the printer and add the printer again as Apple AirPrint or Secure AirPrint only and not as HP printer.
- Please follow instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4500-all-in-one-printer-series-g510/3919445/model/... (HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Mac)
Perform these steps only and nothing else.
- Step 3: Remove multiple printers from the printer list
- Step 4: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer
Also, install all the latest updates for the Mac OS so that the operating system is up to date with all the latest updates installed.
This should do the trick for you.
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response. Please note that I am not overloading you with steps but instead, giving you more information to work with. We are as eager as you are to get the issue fixed. I request you to perform all these steps till the issue is fixed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
