Hi,

Please clarify your exact printer model and its model number, I could not locate any model named as Deskjet 2034:

May you refer to an HP Deskjet 2134 printer? this is the closed model I can think of:

Thanks for clarifying @bitesyerbum.

The printer is not compatible with Snow Leopard, it is officially supported on Yosemite (10.10) or later versions:

https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05532127#AbT14

You may try the following workaround and see if that works:

  1. Download and install below drivers from Apple:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1770?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
  2. Power on the printer and connect it to your Mac.
  3. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax and click the plus sign.
  4. Select the listed printer.
  5. Within the Print Using drop-down menu select the printer software, from the list select the HP Deskjet 6940 series.
  6. Press Add and try printing using the newly added print queue.

For scanning, you may try installing the 3rd party Vuescan application and see if that may allow scanning with your printer too:

Hope that helps,

Shlomi
