Hi @Docbraces

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP LaserJet M209dw not being recognized by HP's support system, and it's not working wirelessly. Let's walk through a few troubleshooting steps to help get your printer working and allow you to contact HP support if necessary.

1. Double Check the Printer's Serial Number (SN)

It's possible that the serial number you are using is incorrect or has been misread. Here are a few things to try:

Verify the Serial Number: The serial number should be located on a label on the back or bottom of the printer. Make sure that you're entering the correct serial number (SN) when trying to register or access support on HP’s website. The serial number is typically a long alphanumeric code. You can also try scanning it with your phone to make sure you’ve entered it correctly.

SN Format: Ensure you’re using the correct format when entering it. For example, some systems require no spaces, while others may need hyphens between sections. If it's possible, try copying and pasting the serial number instead of manually typing it to avoid any errors.

2. Accessing HP Support Without Serial Number

If the serial number is still not recognized by HP’s website, you can still access support for your LaserJet M209dw by following these steps:

  • Go to the HP Support Website.
  • Under "Product Support", choose Printers and then select LaserJet as the printer type.
  • Choose the LaserJet M209 series from the list (if it's not automatically recognized).
  • Manually select the model if needed (HP often lists models that don't require serial number entry).

Alternatively, you can contact HP support directly without needing the serial number.

3. Troubleshooting Wireless Connection

If your M209dw is not working wirelessly, follow these steps to set up or troubleshoot the wireless connection:

A. Set Up Wireless via Printer’s Control Panel:

  1. On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button (the one that looks like a wireless signal icon) or navigate through the menu to find Wireless Settings.
  2. Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  3. The printer will search for available networks. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password to connect.
  4. Wait for the printer to connect to your wireless network. It should display a confirmation message when connected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
