Hi @itsme55,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To install the HP DeskJet D2660 printer on your Windows 8.1 computer without using the CD, you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Connect the Printer to Your PC
- USB Connection: If you're connecting the printer via USB, plug in the USB cable from the printer to your PC.
- Wireless Connection: If you want to connect wirelessly, ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Refer to the printer’s manual or use the control panel to set it up for Wi-Fi if needed.
Step 2: Install HP Printer Drivers from the HP Website
Go to the HP Support Website:
- Open a web browser on your computer and go to the official HP Support Page.
Search for Your Printer Model:
- In the search box, type HP DeskJet D2660 and select the correct model from the list of results.
Download the Latest Drivers:
- Once on the printer’s support page, navigate to the "Software and Drivers" section. Choose your Windows version (in this case, Windows 8.1), and download the latest drivers for your printer.
Run the Installer:
- After the driver file is downloaded, open the file and run the installer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers on your PC.
Step 3: Set the Printer as Default
- Open the Control Panel:
- Press the Windows key, type Control Panel, and select it.
- Go to "Devices and Printers":
- In the Control Panel, click Devices and Printers.
- Set Printer as Default:
- Right-click on the HP DeskJet D2660 printer icon and select Set as Default Printer.
Step 4: Test the Printer
- Once the drivers are installed and the printer is set up, try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly. You can do this by right-clicking the printer in Devices and Printers and selecting Printer Properties, then clicking Print Test Page.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
