Hi @wilsonson
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
To ensure that your HP ENVY Photo 7164 printer is reset to factory settings and any personal information is removed, follow these steps:
1. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings
- Power On the Printer: Ensure the printer is powered on.
- Access the Control Panel:
- Go to Setup (the gear icon).
- Select Printer Maintenance.
- Restore Factory Defaults:
- Look for an option labeled Restore Factory Defaults or Reset All Settings.
- Confirm the reset when prompted.
This will clear any custom settings and should remove your Wi-Fi network information and other configurations.
2. Remove Personal Data
While HP printers don’t store extensive personal data, any scanned documents or images may remain in memory. The factory reset should clear this, but if you're concerned, follow these additional steps:
Clear Print and Scan Jobs:
- Ensure that no print or scan jobs are queued in the printer's memory.
- You can do this by checking the print queue on your computer and clearing any jobs.
Unpair Any Connected Devices:
- If you've paired any mobile devices with the printer, unpair them through the printer's settings.
3. Delete Your HP Account
To remove your HP account associated with the printer:
- Log In to HP Smart: If you have the HP Smart app installed, log in to your account.
- Account Settings: Go to your account settings.
- Delete Account: Look for an option to delete your account. Follow the prompts to complete the deletion process.
4. Final Steps
- Disconnect from Wi-Fi: If you want to ensure no connection remains, you can also disconnect the printer from your Wi-Fi network.
- Remove the Printer from Devices: On your computer and mobile devices, remove the printer from the list of connected devices in your printer settings.
5. Power Cycle the Printer
After performing all these steps, power off the printer and unplug it for a few minutes. This can help ensure that any temporary data is cleared from the printer's memory.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
