All has been well until the upgrading from OS 10.6.8 to 10.11 to 10.12. Printer still works just fine, but do not have the Hewlett-Packard folder (with utility etc) in my Applications. I purchased the new OS 10.11 in Nov. 2016, and transferred everything from the old OS 10.6.8 to OS 10.11. Sadly, OS 10.11 had a LOT of glitches, so Apple tech and I decided to erase 10.11 and re-install 10.12 - with me moving over all the settings etc., etc., by hand (whew!!) over to 10.12. I do still have access to OS 10.6.8 and 10.11. My questions are
1. How do I install all the bits and pieces for this printer/fax onto OS 10.12, and where do I go to retrieve the data I require
2. Is there some way to print all the info re settings etc ahead of re-installing - to save me a lot of time and anguish.
I thank you in advance for any help you can provide, Pat

Hello, @Patsylou
Thanks for the update!
I see that you were interacting with @Chimney_83. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂
The information that you provided and the telephone number you posted is not for HP. My guess is that this is a 3rd party technical support company.
To get the HP utility, you need to install the HP full feature printer drivers.
Click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip to download and install the printer drivers.
Restart the MAC once done and go to Applications - HP - to get the HP utility and other printer programs.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Cheers 🙂

Welcome to HP Forums @Patsylou,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you have reinstalled the operating system on your computer and are looking to reconfigure the printer on your computer.
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?
Is the printer connected to the same wireless network as your computer?
Is the printer listed in printers and scanners available in system preferences?
Recommend you run the setup available at this link, follow the on screen instructions and it would resolve the issue you are facing.
Keep me posted.

I thank you very much forr your answer. I have not responded to it due to the following - for which I now need assist.
Shortly after posting my original question, I rec'd an email to phone HP support at 1 800 601-3170 which turned out to be Jiyo World Trading Corp, from Falls Church, Va. For the sum of $199.99 US, they would address my concern and provide me with 2 yr support. At the end of them doing the 'fix' I would receive emails with info about what they had done, as well as details about this warranty. These emails did NOT come - have been patiently waiting for them!! Understanding the tech was very, very difficult, due to his lack of english fluency. However, I did let him take control of my computer, and he did 'fix' it.
At this point, the printer is working just fine, except, I do not have an HP folder in my applications (for access to Utility etc), no copy of the install app (in case I need to transfer it to a new computer by hand again) - and, no info about the support. I have NOT sent any $$$ to this company.
What do I do now?????

Hold command-option-r at boot and select your wifi when asked. Then you will see a spinning globe while the recovery utility downloads and installs. Once that is done you will see the recovery screen. From there launch Terminal from the Utilities menu and enter the line below exactly like I have it, including the quotes. That will blow off the Fusion drive.
diskutil cs delete "Fusion Drive"
Now quit Terminal and launch Disk Utility. You should see a screen like this offering to fix the Fusion drive. Go ahead and click Fix to rebuild the Fusion drive.
Now quit Disk Utility and click reinstall OS X at the top and wait for it to finish and restart. This will put you on the OS X version that came from the factory. You can update to El Capitan after if you like.
What you are seeing locked there in your second screenshot is the Recovery HD partition, and that is as it should be and not the problem. The problem is you borked the Fusion drive somehow and this will fix it.
