how to scan from laserjet 3015 to pc

I print quite well from my win10 computer to my laserjet 3015.  but when I want to scan with the 3015 to the pc it tells me it is not set up on the pc.

Then I try hp smart and hp assist and they can never see the printer.  when i input the serial number one of them says invalid so I guess it is not compatible with those softwares.

how can I set up the pc to communicate with the printer for this scanning thing?

win10 scan can't see the printer, either.
