I get a message that says I need to update printer driver, but I can't figure out where to go to do it.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I Understand your concern, don’t worry let me help you with this. 


Could you please share the complete model number of your HP printer ?  
 

In the meantime, here are few general  steps you can try to update your printer driver:

 

1.Identify Your Printer Model

Knowing the exact model ensures you download the correct driver.

Look at the front or back of the printer for a label

Note down the full model name (e.g., HP OfficeJet 4650)

 

2.Visit HP Support Website 

HP provides the latest drivers directly on their support page.

Go to https://support.hp.com/  → Software & Drivers

Enter your printer model in the search box

Select your operating system (Windows, macOS, etc.)

 

3.Download and Install Driver

Installing the latest driver ensures compatibility and fixes issues.

Click Download next to the recommended driver package

Open the downloaded file and follow on-screen instructions

Restart your computer after installation

 

4.Use Windows Update (Optional)

Windows can sometimes automatically update drivers.

Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update

Click Check for updates

If a printer driver update appears, install it

 

5.Run HP Smart App

This  tool can diagnose and fix driver issues.

Download from HP’s support website

Run the tool and follow prompts to repair driver or connection problem
