Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Reconnecting printer HP 4635 for mac to wireless. Printer screen asks for WPA/WEP. Do not have. Have wireless password on Modem a SSID number. Cannot enter numerical password on printer screen. What am I doing wrong? Feel very incompetent as printer connected easily several years ago

 

Please help me overcome this simple mental block.  Thanks

Hi,

While entering the password, you should press the required key multiple times to switch between its different characters, as used to type an SMS with legacy mobile devices..

 

e.g. each press on the 2 key will switch between a, b, c and then 2.

WOW!!! Almost immediately replied on a Sunday. Many thanks. As expected it was a mental block in my head. No exuse even though had not used the SMS system in a while. May all problems be this simple even though embarrassing.
