@Mike7551, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP ENVY 6055e successfully prints a test page but fails to print documents, this indicates a potential software or communication issue rather than a hardware malfunction. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

Step 1: Check Printer Status

  1. Navigate to Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  2. Find your HP ENVY 6055e, right-click on it, and choose See what's printing.
  3. If there are any stuck print jobs, click Printer (in the top menu) → Cancel All Documents.
  4. Right-click the printer again and select Set as default printer (if it’s not already set).

Step 2: Verify Connection

  1. Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer:
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Information buttons until the report prints.
    • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  2. Restart your router, computer, and printer.

Step 3: Restart Print Spooler Service

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.
  3. Attempt to print a document again.

Step 4: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

Step 5: Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Uninstall the printer:
    • Go to Control PanelDevices and Printers.
    • Right-click on the HP ENVY 6055e and select Remove device.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers from:
  3. Re-add the printer in Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners.

Step 6: Check Printing Preferences

  1. Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on HP ENVY 6055e, and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Under Paper/Quality, ensure the correct paper size and type are selected.

Step 7: Try a Different Document Format

  • If a Word or PDF document won’t print, try printing a simple Notepad file.
  • If PDFs are not printing, consider updating Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Final Step: Test with Another Device

  • Attempt to print from another device (like a phone, tablet, or another computer) to determine if the issue is related to your PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

For Max3Aj;

Thanks very much for the help suggestions. I performed all three items.

1. No stuck jobs. No pending jobs.

2. Wireless Network Test Report, no problems indicated.

3. On MacBook Pro, I could not follow instructions, I believe they are written for a different system. However I did reset the printer, and printed a perfect test page. I tried to print a document that was on the scanner - came out blank. created a one sentence document - came out blank. Only difference this time, it did not make the printing noise, as had most recent printing tests.

Note. This is probably a long shot, wait, if I haven't mentioned it before my laptop and printer are connected to the router wirelessly. Oh, printer also reported excellent wifi strength (or words to that effect). I have Verizon FIOS and lately have been having peculiar issues. Examples: TV pop up says weak or no signal as if I were taking the signal off the air, even though I'm watching clear picture. Pop up says "finish setting up TV" been done. Loss of one element of Apple TV (Paramount +,news feed. Verizon guy says Not my problem.  One other thing, last night I ran the Self diagnostic test on my Mac - no issues found. Historically when I have seen issues that seem so confounding it turns out to be something so minor that it is easily overlooked. By the way for any old HP people about 50 years ago I road around on submarines and used HP test equipment, always great. Mike

@Mickey-K, Thanks for the detailed update, Mike! It sounds like you've been very thorough in troubleshooting, and I appreciate your patience. Given the additional details, here’s what I’d suggest next:

1. Reset the Printing System on macOS

Since you’re on a Mac, try resetting the printing system entirely:

  • Go to System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS).
  • Click Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Ctrl + Click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • Confirm the reset. This removes all printers, so you’ll need to re-add your HP 6055e.
  • Reboot the Mac and add the printer back:
  • Click Add Printer → Select HP ENVY 6055e → Let macOS install the drivers automatically.

2. Try a Different Print Driver

  1. When re-adding the printer, do not select "AirPrint" (which is Apple's default).
  2. Instead, choose "HP Smart" or "HP Easy Start" if available.
  3. If the only option is AirPrint, try downloading the HP Smart App from the Mac App Store and print through that.

3. Print a PDF via Preview Instead of Word

If documents are coming out blank, try this:

  1. Open any PDF in Preview.
  2. Print it directly from there (File → Print).
  3. If it prints fine, the issue could be with the document software (e.g., Word, Pages, etc.).

4. Test a Direct Connection

Just to rule out wireless issues (even if the signal is excellent), try:

  • Connecting via USB cable instead of Wi-Fi and testing a print.
  • If it prints fine over USB, we may be dealing with a network communication issue, possibly tied to the FIOS router quirks you mentioned.

5. Bypass the Router (If Wi-Fi Is Suspect)

Since your Verizon FIOS has been acting strangely, test printing by connecting directly to the printer’s Wi-Fi:

  1. On your Mac, go to Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Look for a network named "HP-Setup-ENVY-6055e" or something similar.
  3. Connect to it and try printing.
  4. If this works, the router might be interfering with communication between your Mac and the printer.

Your background using HP test equipment on submarines is awesome—HP has some deep roots in precision electronics! Let me know what happens after these steps. We’ll get this sorted out! 🚀

I hope this helps!
