Hi @nomocean

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—it’s frustrating when the setup loop won’t resolve, especially after you’ve already reinstalled HP Smart and reset the printer. 😣

Let’s walk through a few deeper steps that have helped others clear the “Setup Incomplete” message on the HP OfficeJet 8015e.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Fix for “Setup Incomplete” Message

1. Factory Reset the Printer (Not Just Network Reset)

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults
  • This clears all setup data—not just network info—and gives you a clean slate

2. Forget the Printer in HP Smart

  • Open HP Smart → Click the printer name → Select Hide Printer or Forget Printer
  • Close the app and restart your computer

3. Restart All Devices

  • Power off your printer, router, and computer
  • Wait 60 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → computer

4. Reinstall HP Smart and Reconnect

  • Download the latest version of HP Smart from the Microsoft Store
  • Open the app and click Add Printer
  • Follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi and sign in to your HP account

5. Enable Web Services

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, tap the Wi-Fi icon, note the IP address
  • Open a browser and enter the IP to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
  • Go to Web Services → Enable Web Services
  • If already enabled, disable and re-enable it

🧠 Why This Happens

The “Setup Incomplete” message usually means:

  • The printer isn’t fully registered to your HP account
  • Web Services weren’t activated properly
  • The Instant Ink or HP+ setup didn’t finish syncing

You’ve already done a lot of the heavy lifting—let’s make this final pass count. 💪 If you’d like help checking your HP account status or walking through the EWS setup, I’m right here with you.
