You mentioned 500 but also 5001 which is the tank series ?
Anyway, if 500 series then try this memory clear

If you are initializing, most hp products require the use of purge kit which replaces the printheads and are vented to allow air to escape. they also have a clear section so that after the purge process you can confirm that ink flowed from all inks. PN Q6675-67004
