Hi @maureen1854

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out—and I’m really sorry your HP DeskJet 2823e keeps going offline.

That kind of hiccup can be super frustrating, especially when everything looks like it should be working. Let’s walk through a few steps to help get your printer back online and printing smoothly:

🛠️ Steps to Fix the “Printer Offline” Issue

Uncheck “Use Printer Offline”

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2823e and select See what’s printing.
  • In the new window, click Printer in the top menu and make sure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked.

Restart Everything

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from power.
  • Restart your computer and your Wi-Fi router.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This helps clear any lingering connection errors.

Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Make sure your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • The printer’s Wireless light should be solid blue—if it’s blinking or off, reconnect it using the HP Smart app.

Run HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Click the wrench icon (bottom left) and run Diagnose & Fix.
  • This tool can automatically detect and resolve offline issues.

Reinstall the Printer

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Remove the printer, then reinstall it using the HP Smart app or Windows setup.

Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
