Hi all,
I am trying to set up a new printer HP Deskjet 1112. It came without USB cable so I bought one. I am using a MacBook Pro. First with the Mojave OS and ended up upgrading to Big Sur 11.5.2 during the process of installing this printer in case it'd help, but it didn't.
I've gone through the instructions. Downloading the driver, using the HP smart app that detects the printer as "HP 1110" instead of "HP 1112". Once it prompts to connect USB it keeps the intrigue for 5minutes and then says "USB connected to the printer" . I tried the two different ports on my laptop and same result. Funny part is that I cannot get to this step without connecting the USB previously so...
When I check my "printer and scanners" settings it does display the printer. I try going tom a file and print and it seems like for a moment it displays "incoming" on the printing queue" but the printer hasn't made a noise since I turned it on.
I tried resetting the printer a couple times by pressing 30seconds and the it seems like it makes a couple noise but back to silence.
I am not sure if this is a OS compatibility issue, a driver problem, a cable problem, a printer problem. It it not under warranty anymore cause I got it from 2019 even tho I didn't get it our of the box until now.
Maybe someone can help?
Thanks in advance,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.
Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip
As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation and check for any difference.

Hello, I am having the same issue and I cannot find the skip software download button. It's not showing up at all. I just get redirected to the website to download the HP Smart app. Yes, I've deleted all HP software; yes I've restarted; yes my printer is properly plugged in and yes I'm using the same OS as the OP. Thanks
