Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

As above. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, there's no option to print in colour under the printer preferences.

I've tried the basic and full drivers from the HP site.

I don't have the original CD that came with it to reinstall the drivers.

@GavChap, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

For now, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Uninstall the previously installed HP drivers and install the driver compatible with WIn 7 on your Win 10 PC which may resolve this issue.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how this goes.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hello Betty0619,

Did you NOT read my comment at ALL?

Just in case you did Not, here is my comment AGAIN -

Posted on "12-21-2019 11:00 AM

done ALL of that, it is Still NOT printing in colour
There is NO option to select colour"

Want to know what Does fix it? (admittedly you Have to repeat this Every time, but it works, Unlike Any of your so called solutions -

Its very easy to fix. Go to Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Right Click on your printer>Go to Printer Properties>Advanced Tab>Change the driver to any one>Click on OK

Now try to print out a picture. It won't work.

Follow the steps above and change the driver back to the original

Now try to print. It will be in colour!

Now, When you have an answer besides your Stock replies , which do NOT work.....

The steps I gave are not similar to the steps in the previous post.

Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks 🙂

Okay, Sigh.

I have followed your instructions to the letter, they did NOT make Any difference what so ever.

Care to share your thoughts as to Why MY solution works temporarily ?
yes you have to do it for each print, but it works, so the software is obviously correctly installed, so no need to uninstall anything.
there is obviously a problem between HP's software and Win10, the two are not talking correctly to each other.
Why though?

How can installing software for Win 7 be called a solution?
That is surely an admission that the current HO software is broken?
