Hi,

HP ENVY 6200 Printers - Wireless Printer Setup (Mac)

This document is for HP ENVY Photo 6220, 6230, 6232, 6234, 6252, and 6255 All-in-One printers and Mac computers.
To set up an HP printer on a wireless (Wi-Fi) network, connect the printer to the wireless network, and then install the printer driver and software from the HP website. When prompted during the installation, select Wireless as the connection type.
Step 1: Prepare for installation
Before setting up the printer on your wireless network, gather the network name and password, and turn on your router, printer, and computer.
   NOTE:
If you need to find your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password (Mac).
  1. Gather the following items:
    • Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
    • Network password: The password might also be called the WEP key or WPA security passphrase.
    • A computer connected to your wireless network
    • Internet access: HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL for software downloads, using Web Services, and getting printer updates.
  2. Make sure the router and computer are turned on, and that the computer is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer. Turn on the printer and place it close to the computer and within range of the router during the setup procedure.
  3. Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables from the printer.
Step 2: Connect to the wireless network
Connect the printer to your network with the Wireless Setup Wizard so the HP installer can find the printer during the installation.
  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .
  2. Touch the Setup icon .
  3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
    Figure : Wireless Settings display

  4. Touch the name of your network in the list of available networks, and then touch OK.
Figure : Example of network names
    Example of network names
  5. If the list does not contain your network name, touch Enter New Network Name, and then follow the on-screen instructions to enter your network name.
  6. If prompted, type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done.
    A summary screen displays.
  7. Touch OK to return to the home screen.
       NOTE:
If a connection error message displays, make sure you typed the uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters for the network name and password exactly. Follow the prompts to type the information again.
Step 3: Download and install the print driver
On the computer you want to print from, install the HP software that guides you through the wireless setup.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. If you previously connected the printer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the computer and the printer.
  3. If necessary, select your model number from the menu, click Begin, and then click Download.
  4. Double-click the file with HP Easy Start in the browser downloads bar or in the Downloads folder.
       NOTE:
If Easy Start does not automatically open, double-click the second file with HP Easy Start in the name in the Downloads folder.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare and connect the printer.
  6. On the Install screen, scroll down the list of available software and select HP Easy Scan.
  7. After the selected software installs, click Continue.
  8. Read and respond to each of the setup screens until the Add and Verify Your Device screen displays.
  9. Click Add Device.
Figure : The Add and Verify Your Device screen

  10. Click Print Test Page or Scan Test Page to confirm the printer was set up correctly.
  11. Continue with the on-screen instructions to complete the software installation.
