HP LaserJet M110we Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I am getting the "printer cannot print" message.   I recently removed the small cartridge that came with printer and put in a new one from hp ink but that didn't fix it.

  1. I reset the wifi router.
  2. reset power on PC and on printer
  3. reset wifi on printer by pressing wifi button for 20 seconds.
  4. rebooted computer again.
  5. removed old instances of printer from windows 11 printer list
  6. re-added the printer using HP Smart which had me press the wifi button for confirmation
  7. checked my instant ink account and everything is good an paid for

still having the same problem

Here is what it looks like after I re-added the printer:

So the above screen looks good but I am still having this persistent problem and haven't been able to print for months:

Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

It is extremely frustrating to have purchased a printer, paid every month for instant ink, yet not be able to use that said printer.   Here is my instant ink page (this printer is  purchased and installed in Spain).:

Thanks.

I was finally able to fix the issue after three months of not being able to print by logging into the printer web page.  This required me to use advanced functionality in the windows 11 web browser because it first refused to connect to the printer because the connection was insecure (no SSL).

The printer had been off for a couple of months before this happened because I split time between USA and Europe, hence the reason I replaced my inkjet with this laser because it should be able to handle a couple of months being unplugged.

This was a pain in the neck and  shouldn't bee so difficult.  I am a network engineer and can see that there are flaws in the DRM for this printer which would make it even more frustrating for a casual user to solve.  Once the printer is working and payment is continual for instant ink, it shouldn't stop working.

I have been buying HP printers since the Laserjet Series II was released.  This will be the last one I purchase due to your onerous DRM.  Is there a way to remove the requirement to connect to the internet in order to print?  I would rather buy cartridges even if it is more expensive due to the reliability issues with this printer's internet issues.

Hi @awseedrfawsedfg ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've been through quite a few troubleshooting steps already. Here are some additional things to try that might help resolve the issue with your HP LaserJet M110we:

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct WiFi network. Sometimes printers might connect to a different network or band (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz) than your computer.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there's a firmware update available for your LaserJet M110we. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues.

Verify Printer IP Address:

  • Print a network configuration page from your printer’s settings menu (usually accessible from the printer’s control panel). Check if the IP address displayed matches the one your computer is trying to communicate with.

Ping Printer IP Address:

  • On your computer, open Command Prompt and try pinging the printer’s IP address. Type ping [printer's IP address] and press Enter. If you get a response, the printer is on the network. If not, there may be a network issue.

Firewall/Security Software:

  • Check if any firewall or security software on your PC is blocking the printer's communication. Temporarily disable any firewalls or security software to test if that’s the cause of the issue.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app and any related printer drivers from your PC. Reboot your computer and reinstall the latest version of the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or HP’s website.

Check Instant Ink Settings:

  • Log into your HP Instant Ink account and ensure that the printer is correctly registered. Sometimes, issues with Instant Ink account settings can cause printing problems.

Try a Different USB Port:

  • If you’re using USB for initial setup or for any other reason, try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • Perform a full network reset on the printer if available. This will clear any existing network settings and allow you to set it up fresh.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
