Hi,

You may try following these steps installing an alternate driver and see if it works, there are no gurantees but from my experience it is likely to work:

  1. Download and install the following drivers from Apple:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1770?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
  2. Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax and click the plus sign.
  3. Select the shown HP printer, listed as USB or Bonjour.
  4. Click the Print Using drop down menu and press on Select Printer Software,
  5. Select the HP Deskjet 6940 series.
  6. Press Add and try printing using the newly added print queue.

Hope that may help,

Shlomi

@repairman4

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer and it does not print wirelessly from Mac 10.6.8. However the printer prints fine from Mac 10.10. This is a good observation by you. This explains that the printer is working fine. There is something else, probably a driver causing this issue.

I did some research and found that there are no drievrs available for Mac 10.6.8. I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Later please perform the steps mentioned under "Frequently asked questions (FAQs)" under "What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple iOS device?."

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers!

So, I get the fact that I cannot print wirelessly to my HP 4650 wirelessly from any of my 10.6.8 systems.....  I get it.

I bought a USB cable thinking I could print to the 4650 wired.

Still doesn't work.  In fact nothing happens.  Doesn't even put the job in the print queue.

Do I need to take the 4650 back to Best Buy and get my money back ?

Any help would be appreciated.

@repairman4

Before you come to a final conclusion, did you try to reset the printing system in Mac as suggested in my previous post? It works for USB also.

Also, refer to "Installing the driver in Mac OS X 10.6" from this link.

Let me know. Thanks!

OK, I purchased a USB cable for the HP 4650 to try and get it to print from my Mac 10.6.8 (which I cannot upgrade for very specific reasons related to software development issues).

I still cannot print.

So, I guess I am asking for one last time whether I am wasting my time trying to get the 4650 to work from my 10.6.8 systems or not.

I have done all the suggested responses from this post and others I have read on this forum.

Does anyone have a defiitive answer YES or NO you can or cannot and will never get the 4650 to work with 10.6.8 wireless or USB.

Someone please give me very specific instructions to get it working or tell me to stop wasting my time and return the printer.

Thanks

Mark

It Worked! Awesome, Thank you I needed this too. Can't move past 10.6.8 on this Mac for various reasons and just had to trash my old HP All-in-one 6500 officejet.

I don't suppose you have a solution for the Scanner & Fax part of the 4650 on 10.6.8 do you?
