Hi @CNCJC50476

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out—when your HP LaserJet Pro P1108 Plus shows “setup not complete” and commands don’t work, it usually means the driver installation or USB communication failed during setup.

Let’s walk through how to complete the setup and restore full functionality.

Step-by-step actions to fix incomplete setup and command issues

Disconnect and restart

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer
  • Power off the printer and restart your PC
  • Reconnect the USB only after reinstalling the driver

Download and install the correct driver

Check Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X, select Device Manager
  • Expand Printers or Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • If the printer shows with a warning icon, right-click > Uninstall device, then reinstall using the HP driver

Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool

Test with a simple print command

  • Open Notepad, type a few words, and press Ctrl + P
  • Select your HP printer and click Print
  • If it prints successfully, setup is complete

Let me know if the printer still shows “setup not complete” after reinstalling the driver—I’ll guide you through deeper USB troubleshooting or alternate installation methods.

You’ve done the right thing by catching this early, and we’ll make sure your printer responds reliably.
