Hp Smart Advanced is supposed to let you save a scanned document as a TXT or DOCX file.  I used this facility for 3 months until now when it suddenly has stopped working.  You can only save documents as PDF or JPG despite the other options being offered on the drop down.  When you click on Create file nothing happens.  Any ideas why this has stopped working?  According to my account I should be able to use Advanced until Oct 2023.  2 hours talking to a young lady in the philipines did not solve the problem!!

Welcome to the HP Community.

Not sure what happened to it.  I don't have an "HP+" printer.

You could try Updating the app in your Microsoft Store > Library

OR perhaps

Uninstall app from Apps and Features / Restart computer and log in / "Get" a new copy of the app from the store.

What else?

Try the following - it is perhaps not what you were doing before but it might work.

First

Open HP Smart (Windows)

Click Shortcuts

Create / add a new shortcut

Select to send the scanned data to your Cloud Storage.  Note:  The example shows OneDrive as the Destination - the others might work as well)

Set the options, for example -

Enter a descriptive name for your shortcut

Select the destination

Change the color of the shortcut icon

Select the document type (Image, Searchable PDF, Standard PDF, Word document, Text)

Save Shortcut

Return to the main HP Smart menu (homepage)

Click Shortcuts

Select your saved Shortcut

When the scan preset / menu opens, select the options.

For example:  If your printer includes a document feeder, you might select to use that as the source.

Scan the data / content

After the content is scanned, Click the message / name of the Shortcut that displays in the lower right corner

For example, if your Shortcut is named "OneDrive - Docx"

Then, Click message "Start OneDrive - Docx"

Shortcut starts - Wait while content is saved to your destination.

When it is complete, see message "Your Shortcut is on its way!"

Well this proves the conversion works fine and I can access the finished txt file on my google drive.  Brilliant!  and many thanks since I can use this as a workround.  It doesn't address the fact that HP Smart Advanced should then offer the document back to you to save and doesn't give any indication it is converting.

You are welcome.

Our answers generally reflect our experience with a particular product.

In this case I know the one method works but I don't have access to the HP+ Advance application / extension to test.
