Hello,
we just got a HP Smart Tank 7001 printer and I can use the HP Smart app to access/print but I am unable to configure the printer in MacOS
to print directly from other apps (Google docs/slides, Chrome etc)
Is there any documentation in how to configure the printer so I can print directly from apps ?
Thx,
jan

Hello,
thanks for your reply
I am not near my laptop right now but basically when I go into the Printers option in Settings on my MACBook and
open the “add printer” option using the “+” at the bottom of the screen I get the add printer dialog where I can either see any printers the MACBook would find on the network (it doesn’t see the new printer) or I can manually add a printer using the IP address .
If I use the option to add the printer using its IP address the process will check for a few seconds to find matching drivers and eventually identify the HP Smart Tank 7000 as a generic Postscript printer. If I select to manually select the printer software I don’t see any compatible option for the HP Smart Tank 7000 (I see lots of Deskjet, Photosmart etc printer options)
So somehow I think I would need a driver for the printer to be correctly identified
I can connect to the printer via the HP Smart app (and also print, but this would mean I have to save every document/presentation/email as a PDF file first to print it via the app)
Just fyi this all with the latest version of MACOS Monterey (12), latest HP Smart software from the Apple store and latest firmware update applied to the printer
Thx !

If those drivers are not working, try these:
Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

Thanks for the reply and pointer to the Gutenprint drivers
Unfortunately they do not support the HP Smart Tank 7000 printers and also don't seem to install on MACos >10.x
Is there any definite answer whether the HP Smart Tank 7000 is supposed to work with a MACOS 12.x MACbook using
IP to print ?
So far I have not seen any indication this being the case and I am wondering if this will ever be a working combination ?
Thx.

Have you tried AirPrint?: https://support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/product/hp-latex-360-printers/6838371/document/c05635968
