i need help setting up my printer to my laptop

i have a deskjet 2742 printer.  how do i get it connected to my laptop

Setting up your HP DeskJet 2742 printer with your laptop is straightforward. Here’s how to do it:

Wireless Setup (Recommended)

Prepare the Printer

• Turn on the printer.
• Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power button starts flashing.

Install HP Smart App

• Download and install the HP Smart app from HP’s support page or the Microsoft Store.
• Open the app and click Set up a new printer.

Connect to Wi-Fi

• Select your HP DeskJet 2742 from the list.
• Enter your Wi-Fi password if prompted.
• Press the Information button on the printer to confirm the connection.

Complete Setup

• Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup.
• Print a test page to ensure everything works.

 

USB Setup (Wired Connection)

Connect the Printer

• Plug one end of a USB cable into the printer and the other into your laptop.

Install Drivers

• Windows should automatically detect the printer and install drivers.
• If not, download them from HP’s support page.

Set as Default Printer

• Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners.
• Select your printer and click Set as default.
