This printer has features or services that require it to be registered to an HP account, but something has gone wrong or is incomplete in the registration. Visit hp.com/support/printe-setup for additional setup help"

Hi @maborfe

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e printer is stuck in the setup process, likely because it requires registration to an HP account to enable certain features.

Let’s work through this step by step to complete the setup and get your printer working:

1. Complete Printer Setup

Install the HP Smart App:

Add the Printer to Your Account:

  • In the HP Smart app, click Add Printer and follow the instructions to connect your printer.
  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

Check for Setup Cartridges:

  • Some HP printers require setup cartridges for the initial setup. If the previous owner didn’t provide them, you may need to contact HP Support to order replacements.

Perform an OOBE Bypass (if applicable):

  • If the printer is stuck in the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) mode, try this:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the Back and Cancel buttons simultaneously while turning the printer back on.
    • Release the buttons when the printer enters a maintenance menu.
    • Look for an option to bypass OOBE or reset the printer.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer. Firmware updates can resolve setup issues.

2. Enroll in a Monthly Cartridge Plan

HP offers Instant Ink, a subscription service that delivers ink cartridges to your door based on your usage. Here’s how to enroll:

Sign Up for Instant Ink:

  • Go to the Instant Ink website and log in with your HP account.
  • Select your printer model and choose a plan based on your monthly printing needs.

Choose the Most Affordable Plan:

  • The cheapest plan typically starts at $0.99/month for up to 15 pages. You can upgrade or downgrade the plan anytime based on your usage.

Activate Instant Ink:

  • Once enrolled, the printer will automatically monitor ink levels and order replacements when needed.

Let me know how these steps work for you or if you need further guidance—I’m here to help you get your printer up and running! 🌟
