macOS 12.0 Monterey

I cannot install my new printer on my Mac. I am using a USB connection and I followed all the passages (updated the drivers, reset the printing system used HP Easy Start) nevertheless the computer does not see the printer.

Any advice?

Hello Farmax,

You have to make sure about several aspects when connecting these type of printers via USB:

  • Only use usb 2.0 cables, as anything different can lead into connectivity problems.
  • We strongly recommend using USB 2.0 ports from your computer, as anything different can lead into problems: no hubs, no port replicators, no Thunderbolt to USB adapters etc as any of that can create problems.
  • Cable length should be 6  feet or less.
  • Once you confirmed printer is on and USB cable is properly connected on both ends (printer and computer), normally you go to System Preferences> Printers and Scanners> then click in the "+" symbol to add the printer. If dialog box shows your printer listed, click on it and add it.
  • If possible, try on a second computer. If printer can be added just fine on that one, there is a high chance the problem is on your original computer.

If you checked the above and printer is still not being able to be added or not even detected, you can call HP printer support for further investigation.
