PCL XL Error. HP updated drivers on July 21. After update, printer stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Tried installing the "Basic Drivers" which have not been recently updated--- don't know if it is auto-updating me anyway.
Does HP know about this problem with the update?

Hey @LeslieWM,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having some issues with printing from your Windows7 PC to your Laserjet M1536dnf Printer. I can help you with that, however I am going to need some clarification first. Please let me know if you have any lights or messages on your printer when you try to print. Once I know this I will be better able to assist you.

I am running on Windows 10. Scanning and copying work fine. When I try to print a document, the printer comes on and prints a page with this message:
PCL XL Error
Subsystem: TEXT
Error: InternalError 0x50
File Name: cheettext.c
Line Number: 710
No special lights come on. No special message is displayed on the computer or the printer display. I just get the paper note from the printer.
I have my printer connected directly to my computer via USB. No network, no wireless.
I tried to fix the problem by re-installing the driver. I noticed that HP updated the driver I need on July 21st. This is the same day my printer started printing an error message instead of my documents. Has anyone else reported problems with the updated driver?
I appreciate your help.
Leslie

Alright, this should allow you to print:
- If your printer is connected to your PC through a USB cable, remove it.
- Close all programs you have open.
- Click on Start and open Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
- Click on Remove Device.
- Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
- If you removed the USB cable, connect it. If not, click on Add Printer and follow the prompts to add a new queue for your printer.
Please let me know if this allows you to print. If it does, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I did as you suggested. When I pressed Add Printer my computer was unable to find my printer.
The printer stopped working on the day the printer driver was updated. I believe the update is causing the problem. Has anyone else reported to HP that this update is buggy?

If the printer does not reappear when reconnecting the USB cable, it suggests you have two issues going on.
To determine where the issue is, connect the printer to the PC using the USB cable. Once done, click on Start, go to Control Panel, and Device Manager. In this window, search the drop-down options for either the printer or anything that says Unknown Device. Please let me know if you see either thing listed.
