@BeatBu, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
Yes, you can use your HP LaserJet 1320 printer on Windows 11 via USB by installing the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD). Although the LaserJet 1320 is not officially listed as compatible with Windows 11
Install HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)
Download the UPD PCL 5 driver for Windows 11 (choose 32-bit or 64-bit based on your system):
- HP Universal Print Driver PCL5 (64-bit) - HP Universal Print Driver for Windows 64-bit PCL 5 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
Run the installer and choose Traditional Mode when prompted.
Select:
- Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
- Use an existing port → choose DOT4_001 or USB001 (if DOT4 is not available)
- Under Printers, select HP Universal Printing PCL 5
- Name the printer: HP LaserJet 1320 series
Complete the installation and try printing a test page.
Alternate Method: Manual Driver Installation
If the UPD doesn't work, you can manually install the USB communication driver and update via Device Manager:
Go to the official HP driver page:
HP LaserJet 1320 Drivers & Software
Download:
- HP LaserJet USB (DOT4) communication driver
- HP Printer Administrator Resource Kit
Install the .exe file for USB communication.
Unzip the Resource Kit and run updatenow64.exe to update the driver.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If DOT4_001 port is missing, try using USB001 or reinstall the USB driver.
- You can also try Windows Update or Device Manager to auto-detect the driver:
- Open Device Manager
- Right-click on the printer or unknown device → Update driver
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Happy printing! 😊Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
