just bought the HP office jet pro 8120e series and was able to wirless connect my phone and desk top, but then a pop up on the printer itself stating set up incomplete. Not sure what or why it says that. I dont want to re-download it since it connected to my computer and I was able to print something already. Any ideas why the printer pop is stating set up is incomplete?

Hi @edm2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The “Setup Incomplete” message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e printer, even after successful wireless connection and printing, usually means that one or more optional setup steps haven’t been completed. It doesn’t necessarily mean something is broken.

Option 1: Complete Setup via HP Smart

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Tap your printer > Printer Settings.
  3. Look for any “Complete Setup” or “Finish Setup” prompts.
  4. Follow the steps to complete any remaining items.

Option 2: Restart Everything

  • Restart your printerrouter, and device.
  • Open HP Smart again and check if the message disappears.

Option 3: Ignore It (If Everything Works)

  • If you can print and scan without issues, and don’t want to use HP+ or Instant Ink, you can ignore the message.
  • It may disappear after a few uses or firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
