Right out of the box, I went through the setup from the display - connected the printer to my network, etc. The printer works great but- the "retrieving pairing code" is displayed continuously on the display making the selections there useless. The printer is online and connected to my network. I tried unsuccessfully to reset to the factory settings from the app, but it said that the printer was busy. So stuck in a do loop. Is there a way to manually reset the printer to the default factory settings?

Hi @MG4884,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with the "retrieving pairing code" message on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101 fdw and are unable to reset it using the app, you can try a manual reset. Here's a general guide on how you can perform a manual reset on the printer.
Turn off the Printer:
- Power off the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101 fdw.
Wait for a While:
- Wait for a few minutes to ensure that the printer has completely powered down.
Turn the Printer On:
- Turn on the printer.
Press and Hold Buttons:
- While the printer is powering up, press and hold both the "Wireless" and "Cancel" buttons simultaneously.
Hold until Lights Flash:
- Continue holding the buttons until the control panel lights flash or the printer starts a calibration sequence. This may take around 10-20 seconds.
Release Buttons:
- Release the buttons when the lights stop flashing or when the calibration sequence is complete.
Printer Initialization:
- Allow the printer to complete its initialization process.
Check the Display:
- Check the display to see if the "retrieving pairing code" message is resolved.
If the manual reset doesn't resolve the issue, you may want to try the following additional steps:
Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Reset Network Settings:
- Access the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to the network settings and reset the network configuration.
- Set up the network connection again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
