Hi, I recently got a new computer and no longer have the option to print double-sided. I re-installed the drivers from the HP site, looked all over the drop-down menu in word, and also looked at the printer settings in system preferences and there was nowhere to add duplex printing. This printer worked fine with my old computer, can anyone help me figure out how to get duplex printing back?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. Readding the printer doesn't help.

UPD. After removing the printer and re-adding it, I tried selecting a different driver. There is an option "Select software" or something like that. Sometimes it opens a file browser, sometimes it opens a list of drivers. So I clicked it multiple times and selected HP Laser Jet PCL 4/5. No idea what that means, the printer was added, and there is an option to enable double-sided printing in the driver settings. And it actually works. So obviously the driver is malfunctioning.

So I solved my problem by going to the HP website, logging in, selecting my printer, then going to the Drivers section and downloading the driver. It will give you the HP Easy Start app, or something like that. From there, you can choose to install only the driver.

Then reinstall the printer, but this time, make sure you use the driver you just installed.

Then open printer settings, and click "Options & Supplies...", from there, disable the "Use Generic Printer Features". Next, go to the Options tab and make sure the Duplex toggle is on. That's it.

The downside is that I lost some of the standard presets, such as Black& White, Grayscale, and Color. Now the printer prints in color by default. But there is a workaround – you can scroll down the printing pop-up, and there will be Printer Options -> Color. You can choose between Black & White and High Quality Grayscale. You can select BW and then save this as a preset. This option wouldn't be there if you don't disable "Use Generic Printer Features"!

Overall, less convenient than it used to be, I'd like these presets to be saved as system, it is less convenient to use these, as they can be mixed (you can apply more than one preset at once)/ But this works, you can print in color, BW, and grayscale, and can use the double-sided printing.
