Hi @kim1941,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the fax icon on your HP All-in-One 7858 printer is disabled and you're having trouble getting it back, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Printer Display:

  • Look at the printer display screen for any error messages or notifications related to the fax function. It may provide information about why the fax is disabled.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Check the HP website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the phone line or any other required connection for the fax function.

Reset Fax Settings:

  • Access the printer's settings menu and navigate to the fax settings. Check if there is an option to reset or enable the fax function.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software on your computer and then reinstall it. Make sure to choose the correct printer model during the installation process.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings on the printer, including network settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
