Ok. this is just venting and I refer to the thread

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/My-color-laser-jet-pro-MFP-...

the fix posted works for me. THANKS.

BUT

WHY THE HECK SHOULD THIS HAVE TO BE DONE?

In my 35 years of owning up to date printers..I have never heard of

1) this issue
2) this pain in the butt solution

3) Tell me, does HP CORPORATE  have to do this with their printers..This solution is not ‘plain as day”
I know that computers and peripherals are complicated but really….having to do this is …well not reasonable.

And as they say..

”Just sayin’”

It sounds like you were able to get your printer to power on.

What did you do?  I just came to work and my printer won't turn on or light up.

Here's what finally worked for me .  This has happened twice for me.   Second time took a little longer.

1.   Unplug printer from wall AND remove power cord from back.

2.   Hold and press power button for up to about 15 sec's  - drains and releases residual power from printer
3.  Step away... leave for about 1/2 hour or more.

4.   plug everything back in and if it doen't work...rinse repeat...cuss  and leave for longer periods....

Good luck

The challenge today is that printers and most other electronic devices are as much computer as they are printer, dishwasher, stove, etc: and sometimes memory or cpu chips just get stuck, stuff happens and it happens to all vendors. The other issue is too many people do not read instructions and connect a printer to a surge protector or UPS which causes all sorts of chaos for the electronics inside the printer, or have an overloaded circuit that starves the printer of proper, clean power. I had this exact same issue with my dishwasher a month ago. Fully computerized dishwasher and had to unplug for 5 minutes to get it to turn on.
