HP OfficeJet 4500 Wireless
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I got caught by the Windows default upgrade from 7 to 10.

10 was a bit buggy, but I gave it a few weeks to see if it might work out.

Yesterday I had a notice from HP that I needed to upgrade my printer software, so I did, which was my fatal mistake, it seems.

The upgrade process did not go smoothly, and at the end I had no way to access my printer/scanner, and the HP solution Center which I use to do my scanning had disappeared.

It's now been half a day of trying to fix this, including downgrading back to Windows 7, and uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the printer, but nothing works.

One critical issue seems to be an error message I get that says file hpsupportsolutionsframework.msi is missing from the temp/local directory.

So how do I get this file back?

At this point I'm pretty disappointed with HP, because I was just following the advice from you guys to do a necessary upgrade.  everything was working fine before that.

I understand that you are having some issues with the Software for your Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. Click on Start and in the Search bar type in %temp% and press Enter.
  2. In this folder find the folder with a name that starts with 7Z.
  3. Open the util/ccc folder.
  4. Run L3_uninstall.bat.
  5. Restart your PC.
  6. Download and install the latest drivers for your printer by clicking on this link.

I came about this solution from advice on another thread with a different printer, but the concept was the same.  Got everything straightened out.

Thank You
