I have the same issue that others have reported. My printer has a printerhead latch and I performed the unplug - unlatch - lift and jiggle procedure three times and am still getting the message. The message showed after a couple months of inactivity. Went to use it and up came the error. Are there other things I can try?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
THh printhead is defective and needs to be replaced. However, replacing the printhead would require a set of new inks for initialization and calibration.
The printer is end of Life and would probably be more economical to buy a new printer.
Printers in the same class would be the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series or the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010/9020 Printer series.
Thanks for choosing HP!

Greenturtle - thanks for responding. Not what I wanted to hear but what I thought was the case. I appreciate the honest and straightforward response.
Given what HP wants for a replacement Printerhead (not to mention the apparent requirement that I buy all new printer cartridges to install a replacement Printerhead!!???), after having HP printers at home and work for over 25 years, I may be going with a different company.

Green Turtle: Can you please shed some light on the "end of life" comment about printers with printhead failures, My HP Pro 8620 just had a printhead failure as well. Shouldn't "end of life" be based on the total number of pages printed and not how long you've had the printer? The specs for my HP Pro 8620's (and an HP 8600 Premium before that) indicated a Duty Cycle of 15,000 pages a month but recommended 1,250 printed pages per month, or say 30,000 pages in 2 years, right? My HP 8600 printhead broke down after a total of 16,400 pages printed. The printhead of the new HP 8620 only made it to 4,300 pages, and the replacement printhead has just failed after a total of 13,000 printed pages. In all cases I have only used original HP ink.. It seems to me the printhead (CR322A) is the problem. It can't even last for 2 years if you stick with the recommended 1,250 printed pages per month.
