Hi @JupiMom429,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there may be an issue with the touchpad driver or the hardware itself. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 is fully up-to-date. Microsoft may release patches or updates that address touchpad issues.
Update Touchpad Driver: Visit the HP support website for your laptop model and download the latest touchpad driver compatible with Windows 11. Install it and see if it resolves the issue.
Rollback Touchpad Driver: If the issue started after updating the touchpad driver, try rolling back to the previous version. You can do this through Device Manager.
- Press Windows Key + X and select "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.
- Right-click on your touchpad device and select "Properties."
- Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver" if available.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings: Sometimes touchpad functionality can be affected by BIOS/UEFI settings. Enter BIOS/UEFI settings during startup (usually by pressing a specific key like F2, Del, or Esc) and check if there are any settings related to the touchpad.
Hardware Check: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the touchpad. You can try connecting an external mouse to ensure that the USB ports are functioning properly.
System Restore: If the issue started occurring after a recent update or software installation, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state where the touchpad was working.
Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your laptop. This will revert your system to its original state when you first bought it, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding.
Try these steps one by one and see if any of them resolve the issue with your touchpad.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
