My Printer is stuck in the loading stage, displaying the HP logo, a single blue line, and a row of dots, of which one is fully blue.

I cannot turn it off via the power button.

I have tried unplugging it and leaving it for long periods before plugging it back in, but it just returns to the same screen.

It is showing as offline through HP Smart.

I have tried to follow instructions to remove all drivers etc (found on another post in this forum), but I cannot remove the Envy drivers as it keeps telling me they are in use (even when I have ended all HP tasks through manager and the printer is unplugged).

Does anyone else have any other ideas I could try?

Hi @Anna_key,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Envy Photo 7124 printer being stuck on the loading screen!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while the printer is still on.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging the power cord back into the printer.
  • If the printer does not turn on automatically, press the power button to switch it back on.

Check for Blockages or Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer that might prevent it from booting properly.

Update Firmware:

  • Sometimes firmware issues can cause boot problems. Check the HP support site for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Remove the printer drivers from your computer using the control panel and reinstall them using HP Smart or the HP website.

I hope this helps.

hi thanks for your reply. As explained in my original post, I have tried the hard reset and I cannot uninstall the drivers as it tells me they are in use (despite there seemingly being nothing running that would be using them) There are no blockages, and downloading the most up to date software is no use as the printer is stuck in load screen and is offline/unfindable.

Hi @Anna_key,

Thanks for the update. I totally understand how frustrating it must be to deal with a printer that won’t even finish starting up, especially when you've already tried all the usual workarounds.

Since your HP Envy Photo 7124 is stuck at the loading screen with only the HP logo, a single blue line, and one dot filled, and power cycling doesn’t help, it points to a deeper firmware corruption or boot loop issue. Here's what we can try next:

Force Recovery Mode to Reflash Firmware.

This is a manual firmware recovery. It works if your PC can still detect the printer via USB.

What you need:

A Windows PC

A USB cable connection (not Wi-Fi)

The firmware file for HP Envy Photo 7124

Steps:

Download Firmware:

Visit HP's firmware support page

Enter "HP Envy Photo 7124."

Select Firmware > Download

Put Printer into Recovery Mode:

Unplug the printer.

Hold down Cancel + Power or Back + Power (varies by model).

While holding, plug the power cord back in.

Wait until you see either a black screen or a blank display, this indicates Recovery Mode is active (no HP logo).

Run Firmware File on PC:

Connect the printer via USB.

Launch the firmware update file.

Select your printer from the list (it may appear as "USB xxx").

Click Update.

Wait, it may take a few minutes. Don't disconnect until it completes.

The printer should restart normally.

If USB Recovery Doesn’t Work:

If your PC doesn’t detect the printer at all, even in Recovery Mode:

Try using a different USB cable or USB 2.0 port

Try it on another PC (with only HP software installed)

I hope this helps.
