Hi @russbh

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That pulsing purple light on your HP ENVY 6000e means the printer is in Auto Wireless Connect (AWC) mode — it’s waiting to be set up or reconnected to a device via the HP Smart app

It’s not an error, but it does mean the printer isn’t fully connected yet.

Here’s How to Fix It

1. Restart Setup Mode

  • On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi Reset button for 5 seconds, then release.
  • The purple light should pulse again — this confirms setup mode is active.

2. Reconnect via HP Smart

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
  • Tap “+” to add a printer.
  • Select your ENVY 6000e from the list and follow the prompts to connect it to Wi-Fi.

⚠️ If it doesn’t show up, make sure:

  • Bluetooth and location services are enabled (on mobile)
  • You’re not connected to a VPN
  • Your device is close to the printer

If the purple light stays on and nothing connects, or if it eventually shows an E9 error, that means the setup timed out or failed after a firmware update. In that case, you can:

  • Restore factory defaults (press Cancel + Wireless buttons for 5 seconds)
  • Reopen HP Smart and try setup again

Let me know if you want help walking through the app setup or checking your Wi-Fi settings. We’ll get it glowing blue again in no time. 💡

Take care, and have an amazing day!
