I need the printer driver for the HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP printer  (note this is an old printer no longer supported by HP).

(Further note:  I am not requesting the driver for the LaserJet M1536dnf MFP - which can be downloaded from the HP site)

You are not looking for this driver and software package: HP LaserJet M1536 Full Feature Software and Driver  ?

Release date: Mar 21, 2022

"Expand all", this Software is without OCR!

Are you looking for the OCR software?

See here: HP printers - Scan as Editable Text (OCR) with HP Scan (Windows) , HP Universal Scan software.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Andr-1611,

Thank you !   I have tried installing the driver for the M1536dnf on an older machine, with no success - I get an  error message that the install took too long and that it did not install.  But I do think there is a difference between the M1536 and the 1536 - because if I type in 1536dnf - I get a return reply that says that the 1536 is no longer supported (my 1536 is about 14 years old...)

So I was hoping to find the driver that still works for my 14-year old machine

I will try the install with your instruction below to not include the OCR portion (do not need that..)  Maybe that will make the difference of it not timing out.

Thanks again!

For printing, the HP Universal Printer Driver offers support for the 1536. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-universal-print-driver-series-for-windows/415732...

That link is a 64 bit, you can change the OS type if you need a 32 bit driver.

this is unfortunately wrong, see

What you mean is, the MS system must be reinstalled, 32-bit version!
