I have documents to print that need to be watermarked.  The watermark shows up on the pdf but will not print.

@Lisa837

I cannot duplicate this issue.

I can offer some limited advice..

Try / Consider one or more of the following suggestions.

Search the Internet for an article to matches your situation and setup.

For example, search for PDF watermark does not print

Why?  Software and setups vary, as might PDF document formatting.  There are particular reasons why watermarks do (or may not) print.

And / Or

Assuming the PDF file is not protected or is otherwise "out of the ordinary", the following might be useful...

If printing from your Web browser, instead consider printing the document (as a saved file) on your computer.

Make sure the printer is "doing its best" to print documents on your paper.

Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Once you are convinced the printer is functioning as expected, continue...

Open the PDF file in the original Word document format.

Remove and then re-add the Watermark to your document.

NOTE:  If you do not wish to use your master document for this test, create a new document, add a couple lines of text, and add the watermark to that test document.

NOTE:  Check your watermark settings, too.  For example, when using a custom watermark (an image file), check the size setting and whether or not "washed out" is selected.  Generally, whatever you used the first time to add the watermark can be repeated when re-adding the watermark setup.

Save the document in Word (.docx format)

Next, use "Save as" to save the document in PDF format.

Check your printer settings to make sure you are not printing in "draft" mode or any setting that "saves ink or toner" (for example as might be found in Adobe Reader DC print menu).  The "lighter" qualities of draft printing might not be enough to catch a "washed out" watermark.

Adobe Reader DC – Needed Whether You Use It or Not

If you have not done so,

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software

Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

Open the document in Adobe Reader DC

Click the print icon to open the main print menu

Select to print just one page of your document (for example, a page with less text on it)

Print that page and check for any difference
