Hi @SRS20,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e printer is not going into sleep mode as expected, with various lights staying on. This could be caused by incorrect settings or firmware issues. Here's how you can troubleshoot the problem:
1. Check Sleep Mode Settings
- On the Printer Panel:
- Go to the Settings menu on the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to Preferences or Power Management (depending on your model).
- Look for Sleep Mode or Auto-off Settings and ensure that they are enabled. You can also adjust the time after which the printer goes to sleep.
2. Update the Printer's Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, sleep issues can be resolved with firmware updates.
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Select your printer and go to Printer Settings.
- Look for a firmware update option, or go to the HP website and check for firmware updates for your model.
3. Restart the Printer
- A simple restart might fix the issue:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it from the power source for about a minute.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check if it now goes into sleep mode.
4. Check Network Settings
- Sometimes network activity can prevent a printer from entering sleep mode.
- Disable Wi-Fi Direct (if enabled), as it may interfere with sleep mode.
- Ensure that no print jobs or tasks are pending.
5. Disable Always-On Features
- If your printer has an "Always On" feature that keeps it ready for printing, it might prevent sleep mode.
- Go to Settings > Preferences on your printer.
- Look for Instant Ink or other always-on features and temporarily disable them.
6. Factory Reset
- As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings.
- From the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings.
- Select Restore Defaults or Restore Factory Settings (make sure to note down your WiFi and network settings, as they will need to be reconfigured).

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
