HP OfficeJet 5740 all-in-one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried to install the latest update for my printer (had it about 11 mos). I did all the trouble-shooting and diagnostics, and on one of the items listed to do it said that it may not install on Windows 10.

At one point it had me uninstall all software (along with checking firewall etc which was all OK), then I had to install the "basic software" all over again. Printer working fine, but....

Am a little dismayed at this - Windows 10 has been around quite a while now - why would I keep getting this notification if I tried it, reported it, and it still won't install?

I just tried that - link didn't work. Gave me this message: " There might be a typing error in the address, or if you clicked on a link, it may be out of date".

Found some port compatability issues, which were fixed. I then went to the software/driver section, asked to download and install new update - this time, all went fine! I had already downloaded it, it just hadn't been fully installed.

Many thanks!!
