@Tizzycat, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error message "Unable to print. Rendering failed" typically indicates a communication or driver issue between your computer and the printer. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your computer.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Visit the HP OfficeJet Pro 8122e Drivers & Software page and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
- Uninstall the existing printer software from your computer.
- Reinstall the freshly downloaded driver package.
Use HP Smart Diagnose & Fix Tool
- If you're using Windows or macOS, open the HP Smart app.
- Go to "Printer Settings" > "Advanced Settings" > "Diagnose & Fix".
- Let the tool scan and automatically fix common issues.
Check Print Spooler Service (Windows only)
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
- Try printing again.
Try Printing from Another App or Device
- This helps isolate whether the issue is with the printer or the specific app you're printing from.
Firmware Update
- Outdated firmware can cause rendering issues.
- Visit the HP support page and enter your printer model to check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
