Hi @MFP-
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is not connecting to your Lenovo Chromebook, especially if it's indicating compatibility issues with Linux, here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Check Printer Compatibility:
- Ensure your printer is compatible with Chromebooks. Most HP printers support Chrome OS, but it's good to verify on the HP website.
2. Connect via Google Cloud Print (if available):
- Google Cloud Print was a service that allowed printing from any device. However, it was discontinued at the end of 2020. If your printer supports native Google Cloud features, check its settings to enable that.
3. Add Printer Manually:
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers on your Chromebook.
- Click on Add a Printer.
- Select your printer from the list or enter the IP address manually if it's a network printer.
4. Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from the Chrome Web Store. This app can help set up and manage your HP printer.
5. Check Network Connection:
- Ensure both your printer and Chromebook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can check the printer’s network status from its control panel.
6. Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually check this from the printer’s settings menu.
7. Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
- Reset the network settings on your printer to refresh its connection. This can usually be done through the printer's settings menu.
8. Check for IP Address:
- If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, you can check its IP address by printing a network configuration page. Enter this IP address in your Chromebook's printer settings.
9. Try Using a USB Connection:
- If wireless connectivity is not working, try connecting the printer directly to your Chromebook using a USB cable (if supported).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
