Hi @Phoenix757,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is showing an error related to the printer or ink system and the troubleshooting indicates a driver issue, here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem.

Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

Download the Latest Driver:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 model.
  • Download the latest driver and software for your operating system.

Uninstall the Existing Driver:

  • On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 and select Remove device.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find any HP software related to the printer, and uninstall it.

Install the New Driver:

  • Run the installer for the driver you downloaded.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model and check if there is any firmware update available.
  • Follow the instructions to download and install the update.

Check Ink Cartridges and Printhead

  • Make sure all ink cartridges are properly installed and not empty.
  • Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • Check for any obstructions or damage in the printhead area. Clean the printhead if necessary using the printer's cleaning functions.

Run the Printer's Built-In Diagnostic Tools

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Setup menu.
  • Look for Tools or Printer Maintenance and select Print Quality Report or a similar diagnostic test.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve any issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
