I have a one-year old OfficeJet 8015e printer. Has been working fine.

Now I get a "setup incomplete" message and cannot print or copy. Followed the instructions to set-up again. Nothing works.

If your HP OfficeJet 8015e is displaying a "setup incomplete" message and you are unable to print or copy, it can be frustrating. Here are steps you can take to try to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If the connection is unstable, try reconnecting your printer to the network.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet, wait for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.

Complete Setup via HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device.
  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer setup.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset of the printer. This will restore the printer to its original settings.
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Reconfigure Printer on Network:

  • If the printer is not properly connected to the network, it might show the "setup incomplete" message. Reconfigure the printer on your network:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check HP Account:

  • Ensure that your HP account is active and correctly linked to your printer. Sometimes, an incomplete setup can be due to issues with the HP account configuration.
  • Log in to your HP account on the HP website and check the status of your printer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on your computer. This tool can help diagnose and fix many common printer setup issues.
