@Joe948, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding PLC-3 Driver Error on Officejet Pro 9010 Series!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're encountering a PLC-3 driver error when trying to reconnect your Officejet Pro 9010 series printer to your network, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Update Printer Driver:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit HP Support - Software & Drivers and search for your printer model to download and install the latest drivers.

Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer software from your computer.
  • Reinstall the software using the latest version downloaded from the HP support site.

Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer to re-establish a connection. Access this through the printer's control panel under setup or network settings.

Resetting Network Settings:

  • Reset the printer’s network settings to default and attempt to reconnect. Refer to your printer manual or HP's online resources for detailed instructions on how to reset network settings.

Check and Resolve Connectivity Issues:

  • Place the printer closer to the router to ensure a strong signal.
  • Restart your router and printer to clear any network issues.

Run a Network Diagnostic:

  • Run a network diagnostic report from the printer's menu to identify any connectivity issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Zoey,

I had already tried everything suggested, I am the IT tech Guru for our organisation.

As I see from various posts, this is a common error and strange as it has previously worked for the last 3 years, so looks in this case to potentially be a windows update incompatibility issue.

It sees the drivers on a manual Add Printer, but reports back that the file cannot be found.

As in a previous post, everything else performs as expected, scanning etc.

I have been able to get printing working by installing the drivers for the HP Deskjet 6940 which is compatible with the HP Officejet 9010, as per another post.

There is still the issue for others attempting to install the drivers as is will return File not found.

@Joe948, Thanks so much for the follow-up — and totally understand your frustration here, especially since you’ve already gone through the usual steps (and then some).

You're right — this PLC-3 driver error has been cropping up for some users after recent Windows updates, and it does seem to be linked to compatibility or driver signature issues. The workaround using the Deskjet 6940 driver is a smart move — kudos for finding that!

For others still facing the “File not found” issue when trying to install the driver, we're escalating this internally and recommend keeping Windows and HP Smart updated in the meantime. Also, if you haven’t already, try installing the driver using Windows Update > Optional Updates — sometimes the package loads correctly from there.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
