Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

ews reports that it can not open safely in https. I checked the certificate and found that the certificate,  HP8A85CA, contained the following information.

Issued to: HP8A85CA

Issued by:HP8A85CA

Valid from 7/10/18 to 5/20/02

This needs to be corrected and reissued.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

How is the printer connected?

Is the copy working fine?

Any software change made in the printer?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-4500-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304875/model/5368521/...

Restart the printer.

Restore network settings to default settings.

1. Press the Wireless button to access the Wireless Status menu.

2. Press the button next to Settings to access the Wireless Settings menu.

3. Select Restore Defaults.

4. Confirm selection to restore defaults.

To connect the printer to the network.

1. Press the Wireless button from the printer control panel, and then select Settings.

2. Scroll to select Wireless Setup Wizard, and then press OK.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the wireless connection.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

It is connected by WIFI.

I have completed all those steps you have outlined in your response to no avail.

I had to do those to get a reinstall completed.  I ended up using a compatibiltity mode of XP-SP3 that was slected by windows 10. Interesting.

With all that said it is the Certificate that is causing my problem with the EWS.

Please note what I had posted and look at the "to" date for the certificate as shown in my request .

it shows that it is good  to 02That has to be a mistake. Should be 20.

It would take a minute for that to be corrected and then the Certicate should be reissued to end users.

Thanks. Stuck in an endless chat loop!!! So for those out there that can't get into your EWS due to a security issue....you can. Just punch the the selection that says "not recommended".  If the page that comes up is not associated with the EWS then just close it.

I have tried to get the point across the the certificate is  wrong. Can't do anymore on my end. It is up to HP to recognize that  there issue and fix it. NOT ME .
