Hi @donaldrberres,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to reset the password on your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw, as it was given to you without a password. Let’s go through the steps.

1. Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Connect the printer to your network.

Find the printer’s IP address:

On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Network → Network Summary.

Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar.

The EWS page should load.

2. Reset the Printer’s Settings

On the printer control panel:

Press the Setup button (gear icon).

Navigate to Service → Restore Defaults → Restore Network Defaults.

Confirm the reset.

This will clear any existing passwords and network settings.

3. Set a New Password (Optional)

After the reset, if you want to secure the printer:

Access the EWS page again.

Go to Security → Password Settings.

Set a new admin password.

4. Reconnect to Network

After resetting, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Reinstall drivers if necessary to ensure full functionality.

Resetting the network defaults will remove previous Wi-Fi settings and any configured passwords.

I hope this helps.
