Photosmart 5514
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a photosmart 5514 wireless printer connected to my home network of 4 different computers, the printer is connected to the homegroup and 3 of the computers print fine to it.  My primary livingroom pc hard drive died so I upgraded that computer recently, this is where the problem started.

I joined the homegroup, can access everything on all computers, network links all work, installed drivers from the hp disc and at the point where it searches network to add the printer it says printer not found, it asks me to check the wireless status of the printer and enter the ip address manually, It shows connected to our wifi 2.4 access and it does print from the other computers in house fine, yet after entering that info in setup it still searches network and says unable to find printer.

Things I have tried with no help so far,

I went in and shut down my firewall and antivirus (avast), I restarted the modem, router (asus ac88U), I even went thru the whole wireless setup again manually choosing my wifi and entering the code, shows successful and confirmed does still print from the other computers in the house, just not this new primary pc.

Kinda stumped as I have never had problems with just using the install disc and within 4-5 mins all up and running, at the same time as I upgraded this computer I also added that asus ac88u router, I signed into the router and altho all my computers show this printer as connected and I can print from them all, it don't see it in the connected devices under 2.4ghz wifi devices like i do my roku iphones etc.  I poked around in the menus but didn't change anything I just didn't see anything that I could adjust or change really and didn't want to start messing around in there and mess something else up.

Hoping this is just something small or silly I am overlooking, open to suggestions on what to check, adjust or try I am stumped at this point and can't print from the primary computer which is annoying 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to the forums!

I understand that you've wireless connectivity issue on your printer.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

Try assigning a static IP address to fix this issue.

Try the steps below:

* Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.

* Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

* Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

* Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers, have a nice day.

What I ended up doing was going into the router and updating the firmware, then I removed the homegroup and recreated it, once I did those things and reconnected everything to the homegroup it just found and added the printer no problems.

Guessing the firmware update for the router but since I was having an issue with homegroups too i just used the primary pc to create a new group then had the others join and share printer etc, glad I got it working it was driving me batty!
